Introducing The Director-Driven Production Grant

Elevating Los Angeles Directors

Big Little Theater Company is proud to announce the launch of The Director-Driven Production Grant, a new $10,000 funding opportunity designed to support theatrical projects where directors play a foundational role in the work's inception, development, and realization.

We believe directors are more than interpreters - they're generators and drivers of some of the most exciting new projects in our theatrical landscape. This grant program aims to elevate the conversation around directors as creative visionaries and provide meaningful support for their projects.

What Makes a Project "Director-Driven"?

We define director-driven work as any project where a director was:

  • Foundational to the project's initial conception

  • Central to the project's development process

  • Essential to the project's artistic realization

Check back in 2026 for information on how to apply.

Our Inaugural Grant Recipient

We're thrilled to announce that our first Director-Driven Production Grant has been awarded to Carly DW Bones for The Aaron Play, written by Zachary Bones and produced by Coin and Ghost and Independent Shakespeare Co.

Carly’s role in conceiving, developing, and shepherding the vision for The Aaron exemplifies the director-driven approach we're celebrating - a project born from a director's unique vision and creative leadership.

The Aaron Play will be produced in Fall 2025.
